Indian Diaspora: Defining a New Paradigm in India-US Relationship

ABOUT RPBD

The Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (Overseas Indians Day), organized by Ministry of  Overseas Indians, attempts to connect the Indian Diaspora with India,  bringing their knowledge, expertise and skills together. The 2015 Convention will be the ninth such conference held outside India.A Business Meet for the Overseas Indians is also held alongside the Regional PBD.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the Convention is to provide a platform for the Indian community in the USA to contribute to the relationship between the two countries, USA and India and explore ways to give back to the mother country. The members of the Indian community will have opportunity to convey their concerns and aspirations to the Government of India, and also connect with business leaders & govt officials from Centre and States

WHO SHOULD ATTEND ?

The RPBD in Los Angeles is for the Indian American community and anyone who is interested in becoming involved in India's growing relationship with the US as well as those looking for investment opportunities/ collaborations/ business connects with India. It is expected that over 1000 delegates will attend.

  • His farm was the centre of revolutionary nationalist activities in America. First Vice-President of Ghadar party. Donated his entire property to Gadar Party and returned to India. Was awarded life imprisonment. After release elected as first President of Punjab Sabha. Died leading the Tenant movement of Nili Bar.

  • Founder president of Gadar Party. Tried in First Lahore conspiracy case and was sentenced to transportation for life. Took part in hunger strikes in Andaman Jail. President of AIKS in 1940.

  • Member of Political Commission of Gadar Party. Wrote revolutionary poetry while working in the Gadar Newspaper. Lost one arm while making bomb. Awarded life imprisonment. Remained in Cellular Jail, Andaman.

  • General Secretary of Gadar Party (1913 - 1940). Founder and editor of Gadar Newspaper.

  • Joined Gadar movement. Prime Minister of provisional government of India, in exile, in Kabul. Again went to USA. Elected as vice president of the Gadar Party.

  • Cashier of Gadar Party. Accused in Ferozeshah Murder Case. He was hanged on March 27, 1915 in Central Jail Lahore.

  • Partner of Baba Jawala Singh in the farm in America. Awarded life imprisonment on arrival in India. Was the Founder of the Desh Bhagat Pariwar Sahaik committee after release.

  • Leader of Gadar Party and worked as incharge of the press. He worked for revolt by Military Soldiers in different cantonments. He was awarded death sentence in Lahore conspiracy case. He was hanged on 16th November 1915 in Lahore central jail.

  • A revolutionary intellectual. Active as a nationalist in America from 1908. Awarded two years of imprisonment in the San Francisco conspiracy case.

  • Born in January 1888 in a village - Telegaon, Puna District. Took part in Gadar party’s activities. Organised an armed revolt against Britain. He was arrested on March, 1915 with high explosive bombs. Was hanged on 16 November 1915 in central jail, Lahore.

  • Joined the Gadar Party. Arrested at Ambala Cantt while on party mission. Awarded life imprisonment. Escaped from running train. Remained President Freedom fighter organization till death.

  • A member of Yuganter party. An accused of lobbing a granade on Viceroy Harding. Settled on Lahore to strengthen Gadar movement after coming to Punjab from Bengal. He formed Indian Independent league in Japan during second world war.

  • An intellectual who joined the Gadar Party. Took part in organizing revolt amongst soldiers in Burma and Thailand. Hanged on 10 February 1916 in Mandley jail.

  • First Vice President of the Gadar party. Awarded life imprisonment in the first Lahore conspiracy case. After release led the peasant movement till his death.
  • bhai bagvan singh BHAI BHAGVAN SINGH
  • Worked amongst Indians in Canada and imbued them with revolutionary zeal by his lectures. Wrote a number of poems which were collected in ‘Gadar Di Goonj’. Exiled from Canada. Helped in reorganization of Gadar Party in America after the failure of uprising.

  • He was incharge of bomb factory in Amritsar. Foreign Minister in provisional Indian Government in Kabul. Arrested in Russia and handed over to British Government. Hanged on 27 March 1917 in central jail Lahore.
