Panel Discussion II: Technology partnerships, Investments & Innovation through the Digital India Initiative (Avalon Hall)

The Government has envisaged the Digital India program with a simple but bold ambition: to re-design government/essential services and place them on-line, while providing citizens’ access through personal mobile or community access facilities for convenience. Broadband access for all and a digital identity will help to empower the people. In short, going digital means that services – health, education, banking, and a whole host of other citizen services - can be delivered more efficiently, effectively, and in a transparent way. Delivering this will require close collaboration between government and industry.

The Session will explore the approaches of how government and industry can partner to implement the “Digital Presence” on the ground by creation of compelling digital strategies and services and how emerging trends and technology imperatives can impact the lives of its citizen. It will also showcase some live examples of how IT & Technology are game changers in making that difference.

Impact investing is all about generating social and environmental impact alongside financial return. While the concept is catching momentum worldwide and especially in India, the move in mind-sets from pure philanthropy to investing in Enterprises throws up several fundamental questions: What are Social Enterprises? How is Impact Investing different from philanthropy? What are the Impact Investing and Social Enterprise landscapes like in India? This panel will attempt to answer these questions while engaging the audience, highlighting case stories of select social enterprises in India and sharing insights on how overseas Indians can access social enterprises.
