Future of US-India relations depends on how the Indian Diaspora engages with the Americans

“The Indian Diaspora: Defining a New Paradigm in India-US Relationship,” is the theme of an upcoming Regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas Programme. This topic will be discussed two weeks from now in Los Angeles, California, USA. Some would question the choice of venue, but it is a known fact that even though Indian diaspora constitutes only 1% of the total population of the US, their success is noteworthy. Many startups in Silicon Valley have Indian surnames and you are likely to meet many Indians in high paying professions like doctors and engineers. Previous venues for the Regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas events have included London, Sydney, Toronto, Singapore, Durban, Mauritius, The Hague and New York. Read more...

Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Preparation Meeting | By Dilip Butani and Kewal Kanda

LOS ANGELES — After a kick-off meeting last week, another meeting was organized at Woodlands Restaurant Oct. 17 to work out the details for the upcoming Regional Pravasi Bhartiya Divas program, to be held Nov. 14-15 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel here. The theme for RPBD-Los Angeles will be “The Indian Diaspora: Defining a New Paradigm in India-U.S. Relationship,” capturing the ethos of the ongoing relationship between India and the U.S. and the important role being played by the diaspora in this regard.
